The Services
We meet on the Lord’s Day, Sunday, as the early Christians did. (Acts 20:7 – “And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.”)
We partake of the Lord’s Supper to show his death until he comes. (I Cor 11:23-26 “For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.”)
We partake of the Lord’s Supper each and every first day of the week. (Acts 20:7 – “And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.”)
We take up a collection each Sunday to lay by in store as commanded to do the work of the local church. (I Cor 16:2 – “Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.”)
We sing praises to the Lord as a congregation and a cappella.
(Colossians 3:16 – “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”) Click here to hear some of the hymns.
We worship God in truth and spirit. (John 4:24 – “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”)
The worship service is conducted by the men of the congregation. (I Cor 14:34-35 – “Let your women keep silent in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. And if they will learn anything, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.”)
We pray to God through his Son, Jesus Christ. (I Tim 2:5 – “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men the man Christ Jesus.”)
We also meet on Sunday nights and Wednesday nights for bible classes to sing and study God’s word. The adult class is taught by men of the congregation. (I Tim 2:11-12 – “But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.”) We have young children classes that are taught by women and/or men of the congregation.
